The Junior Mariners Program
Mission Statement:
The Junior Mariners Program is a formal partnership between the Down East Girls Softball League and East Carteret High
School's Softball Program and is designed to solidify in the minds of our softball players the link between
their success on the field as a youth and their continued growth and success on the field and in the classroom to and
through East Carteret High School and, hopefully, college. By creating solid personal and athletic bonds between
current ECHS players and coaching staff and prospective, future players through mentorship and friendship, our young
girls will more clearly see their development paths to and through the ECHS Softball Team and our ECHS players will become
better players merely by the act of coaching their respective mentees. Bright futures lie ahead for all the participants
of the Junior Mariners Program.
What This Involves:
- Register your Junior Mariner softball player before March 7, 2010.
- Attend the ECHS Softball Junior Mariner Skills Clinic on Saturday March 13, 2010 at ECHS Softball field.
- Junior Mariners who register by the deadline receive a Junior Mariner t-shirt. Late registrants receive theirs
later through the DEGSL. Please note: In an effort to contain costs, all Program t-shirts will
be printed following the clinic and distributed to participants through the League.
- Junior Mariners wear their Program t-shirts and receive free admission for themselves to ECHS Mariners home non-post
season tournament Softball games.
- Junior Mariners bond with their Senior Mariners by attending games and cheering ECHS to victory.
- Immediately prior to the last 3 non-Senior Night home games, Junior Mariners will be called out onto the field with
their Senior Mariners to be recognized as Program participants.
- View pictures taken at the events on the DEGSL web site.
Proceeds from the Skills Clinic registration fee go to purchase equipment and field improvements for the ECHS Softball Teams. Get the registration form at (.pdf).
