• Congratulations to the Down East 8U All Star team for winning the Bobby Andrews Scholarship Tournament August 9-10, 2008 in Washington , NC.  They completed an impressive softball season with an undefeated run through tough competition.  We are very proud of these young ladies!
  
  
  
  
  
• Congratulations to the 8U Down East All Stars for capturing second place at the ENC State Tournament against very tough competition.  
  
  
• The 8U Down East All Stars advanced to the Southeast Regional Championships in Wilson NC July 16-20.  The League sought and received contributions to help defray the players' hotel, meal and gas expenses.  If you would like to contribute, please contact League President Bobbi Brooks at bbrooks4@ec.rr.com.  We would also like to thank those businesses and individuals who have already generously given to this worthy cause.

• Congratulations to the 8U Down East All Star team for winning the District 5 Championship.  They played their hearts out and drove convincingly to victory.  In their four games, they amassed 96 runs while allowing only 4.  Way to go Down East 8Us!  Good luck in Henderson at the State Tournament!

Other News

• In order to stay ahead of Babe Ruth Softball requirements for coach certifications, all DEGSL managers and coaches will be required to complete the Babe Ruth League Coach's Certification Program prior to be allowed to coach a team for the 2008 spring season.  Coaches can go to Babe Ruth League Coaching Education Center for more information and to take the course.  It will take several hours so go ahead and get started today.
